Miss Shina Lelani Mitchell, age 6, daughter of Kenneithia & Michael Mitchell, has earned the opportunity to compete as a National Finalist representing the great state of Maryland in the 2010 National American Miss Princess Pageant to be held in Anaheim, California at Disneyland during Thanksgiving week. As Harford County’s Queen and Maryland’s Talent Winner she will have the opportunity to win her share of over $500,000 in cash, prizes and scholarships.

The National American Miss Pageants are dedicated to celebrating America’s greatness and encouraging its future leaders. Each year, the National American Miss Pageants awards 1.5 Million dollars in cash, scholarships, and prizes to recognize and assist the development of young women nationwide. The National American Miss Pageants are for “Today’s Girl” and “Tomorrow’s Leaders.” The pageant is based on inner beauty, as well as poise, presentation, and offers an “All American Spirit” of fun for family and friends. Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition, and setting and achieving personal goals. When Miss Shina Lelani Mitchell is not working hard in her 1st grade class at Old Post Road Elementary earning “Student of the Month” for Academic Excellence and Outstanding Character, or earning Reading Road Trip’s “Outstanding Achievement” award through the Harford County Public Library, she’s mastering her talent in ballet, tap, and jazz as a member of the elite competition team “Hot Shots” at Mid-Atlantic Center for the Performing Arts-MCPA.

To further enhance her talent and interests Miss Shina Lelani Mitchell excels as one of Baltimore County Gymnastics’ “Future Stars”, an elite competitive team.  Among all her activities, Miss Shina Lelani Mitchell still finds time to earn the “Advancement Certificate for Level III” of the American Red Cross Swimming Fundamental Aquatic Skills Program and to serve as member of the board of Hope Ministries of Christ Worship Center, committee member of Ultimate Soprano, Inc and as junior usher of her church. In her spare time you can find Shina swinging on a swing, hanging from a monkey bar, riding her bike, or just plain hanging around watching her favorite movie, “Father of the Bride.” Miss Mitchell dreams of being a Prima Ballerina, marrying a handsome prince and living happily ever after!!!
